Will you read through my paper and tell me if it is OK? I need help with the introduction, body, or conclusion.
While we are happy to answer questions about creating proper citations and how to integrate research sources into your writing, providing feedback about things like composition and writing style is outside of what we normally do at the library.
However, the DVC campus has several places where you can get feedback on your writing:
Learning Center and English Tutoring
The English Tutoring at the Learning Center offers writing help on a drop-in and by-appointment basis. More information about tutoring services and how to sign up is available on their website.
As of Spring 2018, DVC is offering all students up to 5 hours free of online writing help via NetTutor. Students can access NetTutor from within their course in Canvas (see screenshot for what that looks like). NetTutor offers asynchronous tutoring through the Paper Center, where students can upload a paper for feedback within 48 hours, and through the Question and Answer Center, where students can ask a question and get a response at a later time. These are available to students at any time of day.
Have a question?
Visit or call the Reference Desk, (925) 969 - 2595, to speak with a DVC librarian during library business hours.
You can also contact a librarian via chat, text and email.
During non-business hours, you can chat with a librarian via QuestionPoint (green widget on right hand side), a service available 24/7.
