This silent screencast shows you how to make a research appointment with a DVC librarian:

Step by step:

1. Use the Make a Research Appointment link on the library homepage

2. Choose your preferred format from the pulldown menu to see the available appointment days and times.

  • DVC Pleasant Hill Library currently offers in-person and virtual research appointments.
  • DVC San Ramon Library currently only offers virtual research appointments - your local librarians are Amanda Choi and Amelie Brown.

3. You can choose a librarian, pick a day, and pick a time. To see the most available appointments, leave the "No preference" button selected.

4. Next, fill out the form with your contact information and a short description of what you'd like to cover in the appointment. If you need help with a specific assignment, you can upload assignment files at the end of the form.

5. Look for the confirmation email from LibCal. If you selected "Virtual Research Appointments" this email will contain the Zoom link for your virtual meeting with the librarian.

6. If you need to cancel your appointment, use the link in the confirmation email.

In a research appointment, librarians can help you with:

  • Defining your topic

  • Selecting the best resources for your assignment

  • Accessing and navigating electronic resources

  • Developing search strategies

  • Evaluating sources

  • Citing sources
