If you want to check out a chromebook, headphones, webcam, hotspot, or a calculator to use at home, please visit this linked page for information on requesting and picking up technology equipment to use for the semester.

Regarding using a computer on campus or in the library:

  • Where should I go?

    • At Pleasant Hill campus - The Library Information Commons (located to the left after you walk past the library foyer & security gates) has 32 desktop computers for currently enrolled students who need to use a computer for school-related work. The PHC Library also has Chromebook laptops which students can check out for three hours to use in the library only. The Library Classroom, L-202, has additional desktop computers which students may use if there is not a workshop or class scheduled.
    • At San Ramon campus - The SRC Library has a handful of desktop computers available for students, or you can go to the SRC Learning Commons which has more computers available for students. The SRC Library also has several Dell laptops which students can check out for three hours to use on campus only.
  • What do I need?

    • To access to DVC lab computers on campus, you will be asked to log in to use the computer. The log-in you will use is your Insite Portal username and password.
  • What if I don't know/don't have a login?

    • A small number of stand-up computers in the library are available to use without a login -- use of these computers is restricted to 5 minute sessions for printing or looking up items in the library catalog.
  • Can I save files on the library computers?

    • We do not recommend that you save files on the library's computers. The library's computers are periodically restarted and once they are, all temporary files are deleted. A better way to save your files is to use OneDrive, Google Drive, a USB thumb drive, email yourself the files you want to save, or use some other means of external or cloud storage.
