The library & librarians CAN help with:

  • finding and using high-quality research sources
  • identifying when you need to cite something and when you don't
  • identifying if a source is peer reviewed or not
  • formatting citations, both in-text and at the end of your paper

Please contact us by chat, text, phone, or email to get started.

The library & librarians CAN'T help with:

  • providing feedback about composition and writing style

However, the DVC campus has several places where you can get feedback on your writing:

Learning Center and English Tutoring

The English Tutoring at the Learning Center offers writing help on a drop-in and by-appointment basis. More information about tutoring services and how to sign up is available on their website.

NetTutor

As of Spring 2018, DVC is offering all students up to 5 hours free of online writing help via NetTutor. Students can access NetTutor from within their course in Canvas (see screenshot for what that looks like). NetTutor offers asynchronous tutoring through the Paper Center, where students can upload a paper for feedback within 48 hours, and through the Question and Answer Center, where students can ask a question and get a response at a later time. These are available to students at any time of day.
