Where can I pray or meditate at Pleasant Hill or San Ramon campus?
Both San Ramon and Pleasant Hill campuses have a dedicated space for prayer or meditation. Silence is valued in these spaces. Please use these areas for their intended purpose only.
Pleasant Hill campus
The Prayer/Meditation Room is located on the second floor of the Library Building behind bookshelf #22. Walk directly back from the front entrance of the library past the circulation desk and veer slightly to the right. The prayer/meditation room is located along the west (farthest) wall of the library.
Space Use Policy
The use of the space is reserved for quiet meditation, prayer, contemplation, and reflection.
The room is not to be used as a lounge, nap, or study space.
Usage time limit is 20 minutes.
Use of the prayer room is first come, first served.
1 person maximum at a time.
Food and beverages are not permitted.
The room should remain clean and neat.
No signs or advertising may be posted.
No candles, incense, or any other flammable items are permitted.
Do not remove any furniture or supplies from the room.
San Ramon campus
The Prayer/Meditation Room is located in E232 on the San Ramon campus.
The Prayer/Meditation Room is for individuals wishing to engage in structured or unstructured reflection that could include prayer or meditation. The room may be accessed Monday through Thursday.
Space Use Policy
In the interest of respect and consideration, individuals who use the prayer/meditation room must observe the following guidelines:
No organized services or scheduled/recurring events
No sleeping or studying in the Prayer/Meditation Room
Users will use the space in a quiet manner
The use of electronic devices (computers, cell phones, tables, etc.) are not permitted and should be turned off or silenced upon entering the space.
No food or beverages in the Prayer/Meditation space
No furniture may be used in the space unless requested from staff
Users should return the space to its original set up
Users should be considerate in limiting time and space so other individuals may use the space
The San Ramon Campus is not responsible for belongings left in the space
Users who do not comply with this policy will be asked to leave the space by faculty, staff, and or Police Services
